Canada is a vast and exciting country. The sublime scenery and magnificent landscape is reason enough to want to visit this beautiful country. But, there is more to Canada than mountains and scenery.
Tour through the Rocky Mountains - home to snowcapped mountains, deep valleys and gorges - and visit some fascinating places steeped in history, culture and tradition.
The best way to see as much of this amazing country as possible is in a motorhome or caravan. You can pick an itinerary and head out on the open road. It is the most freeing way to spend your holiday time.
The hardest part of planning your holiday is narrowing down your options. For many people, a motorhome holiday in Canada is an opportunity of a lifetime and not an experience they experience more than a handful of times. It is important to get it right and make sure you plan everything you want to experience into your itinerary so you don't miss out.
If you are stuck for ideas, here are five things to see in Canada on your motorhome holiday of a lifetime to Canada.
Calgary is the largest city in Alberta and is an urban landscape famous for the Calgary Stampede and its restaurant, and its cosmopolitan culture. If you want to plan in a few great nights out, this is a great place to do it! It has a thriving music scene, so make sure you plan a dinner out while you see a new band.
Calgary is also known for its western heritage and culture. It is even nicknamed cow town! You can learn about its exciting history by visiting Heritage Park Historical Village. In this fascinating museum, you can walk through the west, see the vehicles, visit the shops and experience history firsthand. We even have an excursion available for you to book. So, take a look and see if you want to include this on your motorhome holiday.
Another fascinating place to visit in Calgary is the Calgary Tower. This is a tower in downtown Calgary that sits elevated 191 meters above the city. From the top, you can experience a magnificent view of the city from all sides!
You can see these amazing places and more in Calgary. Choose our road to the Rockies Tour, The best of the Canadian and American Rockies tour or our Canadian Rockies tour. All of these offer you the opportunity to spend a little time in Calgary before heading on to travel through the magnificent Rocky Mountains.
Vancouver is a beautiful city sitting in the heart of the sunshine coast in British Columbia. Vancouver is a city that has it all. You have beautiful coastlines and beaches on one side and on the other easy access to magnificent mountains and scenery! The city itself is alive with things to do, and we have several Vancouver excursions that you can make the most of whilst in the area.
See the darker side of Vancouver by heading out on the forbidden walking tour. You can learn about the dirtier secrets of mobsters, corruption and smuggling from the prohibition during this walk around Gas Town and China Town. You can book this and more by contacting us and booking one of our excursions.
See as much of this impressive city as you can by booking a hop on hop off sightseeing tour. The sightseeing bus will take you on a route through Vancouver's most intriguing spots, and you can stop and get off wherever you feel like getting a closer look.
Grouse Mountain is a must-see thing to do in Canada for anyone travelling through the Vancouver area. Book yourself on the famous Grouse Skyride and get the best views possible you can of this fantastic city. In summer, you can take a hike around the area and visit the local wildlife sanctuary. If you want something a little more exciting, you could even book a helicopter ride!
Whistler attracts visitors throughout the year. In winter, it is a fantastic ski resort. But, for a motorhome holiday, you may prefer to travel when the weather is a little warmer. Even in summer, Whistler is a great town to visit. It is nestled within a wondrous landscape of iconic mountains. This is the perfect place for hikers and anyone interested in experiencing the more adventurous side of life.
Our excursions include an exhilarating zipline and suspension bridge adventure. You can get a full view from the top of the mountain by taking the peak to peak gondola experience. You can see mountains, lakes, glaciers, and forests from your high vantage point. This is a sight that many people never get to see.
After an exciting day, you may want to slow it down. There is still plenty more to see and do in Whistler. High in the mountains, you can find what once was a bustling logging settlement. Parkhurst is an abandoned ghost town left to decay. You can only get to this place by hiking there, so make sure you are well equipped for a safe hike before you head out.
Whistler is a stop on three of our tours, so you can take a couple of days to explore this fascinating place. While planning your holiday take a look at the many extra excursions, making your holiday a little more special.
In the heart of Alberta, you will find Banff. This is a resort town nestled within the Banff National Park, a stunning area of Canada home to icy blue lakes surrounded by ice-capped mountain peaks and awe-inspiring landscapes.
If you decide to include Banff in your holiday itinerary, why not join a wildlife canoe tour! This is an interactive way to explore the natural world from a different perspective. On your journey, you might get to see bald eagles, beavers or the famous Canadian elks. Not your thing? There are plenty of other options for excursions, including an exhilarating ride in the Banff Gondola, which takes you to an altitude of 2,281m to get a birds-eye view of the magnificent scenery. When you get to the top, you can have a bite to eat, have a drink or go for a hike before heading back down to your motorhome.
On Vancouver Island, you'll find Ucluelet. In the local indigenous language, this town can be translated into 'people of the safe harbour', which is the perfect name for this serene and tranquil place. This might be a small town, but it is beautiful, and you have the best that nature has to offer to explore. You have a beautiful beach coastline, a temperate climate and even a rainforest!
Ucluelet is the perfect place to participate in outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, cycling and more. For something a little more exciting, you can head out to sea and learn to kayak, surf or sail.
If you are looking for something a little more sedate (but just as exciting), you can check out the local wildlife. We have some fantastic wildlife trips such as whale watching where, if you're lucky, you may see pacific grey and humpback whales or even the elusive orca. If you prefer to stay on land, you could take a bear watching tour and spot yourself a black bear or two.
Whichever holiday itinerary you choose, you will be able to fill it with the most amazing sights and activities and make memories you will treasure for a lifetime. If you need any help planning your holiday get in touch with one of our travel team for further help and advice.
