Moutohorā Island Sanctuary
Recharge with nature in one of New Zealand’s most restricted, pest-free wildlife sanctuaries. Departing from Whakatane Wharf, the 15-minute boat journey takes you to Moutohora Island for a two-hour guided walk amongst the regenerated bush as you listen to the calls of rare and endangered bird species. Then, visit the hot water beach geothermal area, cruise around the island, and visit the fur seal colony before returning to the mainland.
