About us: Chris
Chris was born in Pretoria and was an outdoors and nature fanatic from a very young age. He has a particular interest in birds and completed his first birding course at age 12.
His passion for all things nature eventually led to a career in tourism and he has become a very knowledgeable, professional and experienced guide, running successful safaris and tours since his registration in 1992.
After finishing school and 2 years military service he started working as a guide and was doing jeep safaris in Kruger Park for roughly 10 years before moving on to leading cross- country overland camping tours through South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe, Eswatini and Lesotho.
He still finds camping in the wild the ultimate adventure to experience the beauty of Africa.
He has travelled as a freelance tour leader and guide to an extensive variety of wilderness and wildlife parks and after 30 years of guiding Chris is not slowing down and still leads tours all over Southern Africa on a full time basis for a variety of tour operators.
His first love is absolutely Africa but he also explored numerous European countries like England, Holland, Belgium, France and Italy.
He also worked and travelled in America for 2 years exploring Boston, New York, LA, San Francisco, Houston, Denver and Key West in Florida.
Chris enjoys guiding tourists not just on safaris, tours, historic and scenic drives but also on hiking, biking and photographic adventures and loves to share his wealth of knowledge about of SA and her people.
Chris is a member of Birdlife South Africa, a member of the field guide association of South Africa (FAGSA) and is fluent in Dutch and English.
He and Elmarie has been together since 2005, married since 2012 and reside in the beautiful coastal town of Mossel Bay in South Africa.
About us: Elmarie
Elmarie was also born in Pretoria but grew up as a country girl in the Bushveld town of Naboomspruit.
She studied teaching and has been a superb junior primary/ Grade1 teacher for 30 years.
Her best teaching years were at a Christian based school named Doxa Deo in Pretoria were she was a senior member of the management and one of the most sought after teachers by parents because of her tireless dedication and experience with kids.
Now that the school years are over, Elmarie is following her passion for traveling. As a student and a teacher she did a lot of local hiking and outdoor camping trips as well as a couple of Contiki trips to Europe.
Each year a new country gets added and by now she has been to numerous overseas countries like Indonesia (Bali) Greece, Morocco, Taiwan, Thailand, Israel, Vietnam, Jordan and Zanzibar and the list continues to grow.
She also designs and markets her own signature overseas trips and loves the fact that she can join in and travel with her mostly lady groups.
Together with Chris they love exploring new places all over South Africa especially along the Karoo, Garden route and Cape Town.
They both loving dining out and are always in search of new restaurants, wineries, and places to barbeque in nature on their weekend escapes. Together they make a welcoming, homely, friendly and well-organized team.
