Itinerary

Distance: 248km (155miles)

Collect your motorhome and follow the Interstate to Montgomery, the State Capital of Alabama. We suggest a visit to the Old Alabama Town to see a collection of restored 19th and 20th century homes and also a visit to the Jefferson Davis’ Confederate White House.

Distance: 296km (185miles)

Today you will begin the journey to New Orleans but because it’s a long drive, we have included an overnight stop in Mobile, Alabama in order to break up the journey. Here you can see Conde-Charlotte Museum which over the years has been ruled by the French, the English, the Spanish, the Confederate and the Americans, or you could pay a trip to Memorial Park to see the Battleships.

Distance: 256km (160miles)

Continue your journey to the historic city of New Orleans: the birthplace of jazz and if you use our recommended campsite you will be able to walk into the heart of New Orleans, plus it has full hook-ups, a Clubhouse and has some great facilities.

There are so many things to do in New Orleans, there’s Jackson Square, Basin Street and Audubon Park, you can cruise the Mississippi aboard a paddle steamer, take a day tour to the swamps or you could visit one of the beautiful Plantations that are in the area.

Distance: 288km (180miles)

Today you’ll start heading north towards ‘Elvis country’ however as it’s another long drive we have once again broken the journey and have included a stop close to Jackson Mississippi, another State Capital. Here you can visit The Old Capitol, Governor’s Mansion and the Capitol Building.

Distance: 256km (160miles)

Follow the scenic Natchez Trace as you head for Tupelo, the birthplace of Elvis Presley’s and his hometown until the age of thirteen. With two nights in Tupelo you will have plenty of time to visit Elvis’s birthplace and to see the museum that’s dedicated to his life

Distance: 176km (110miles)

This morning’s drive will take you through the Holly Springs National Forest as you make your way to Memphis where if you decide to stay at our recommended campground, you will be within a stone’s throw of Graceland, Elvis Presley’s home. With three nights here you will have plenty time to visit Graceland, the Civil Rights Museum where Martin Luther King was shot and Sun Studios.

Distance: 368km (230miles)

Your destination for today is Nashville, the home of Country Music and the city which saw Dolly Parton and a host of other great singers become international stars. With three nights in Nashville you will more than enough time to time to visit places such as the Grand Old Opry (Tues, Fri, Sat night), the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Jack Daniels Distillery.

Available Excursions:

Distance: 225km (140miles)

Continue to Chattanooga where the Raccoon Mountain RV Park & Campground is the closest campground to the area’s major attractions, there’s the ‘Incline Railway’ to the Lookout Mountain battlefields, the Southern Belle Riverboat, an IMAX Theatre and there’s downtown Chattanooga to explore. For the more adventurous, there’s also the Raccoon Mountain Caverns which has over 5 ½ miles of cave systems to discover.

Distance: 208km (130miles)

This morning you will make the short journey back to Atlanta to return your motorhome before transferring to the airport for your overnight flight back to the UK.
