Return to South Africa and continue to Cape Vidal which lies within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park World Heritage Site. The campsite is set in a bay sheltered by a rock reef that is completely exposed at low spring tides, providing a multitude of rock pools and prime snorkelling areas. On either side lies kilometres of deserted, unspoilt beaches ideal for long walks, while inland there are self-guided drives around the fascinating wetlands and rich coastal forests.
Cape Vidal often referred to as heaven on earth truly offers the best combination of safari and sea. Situated on the exquisite Zululand coast with all its amazingly rich marine life, and it provides direct access to the Eastern Shores Nature Reserve with its populations of elephant, rhino, buffalo, crocodile, hippo and reedbuck to name but a few.
On the following day you can explore Cape Vidal and take a drive to St Lucia; this beautiful stretch is a mesmerising piece of pristine beauty. Along the way there are many different viewpoints each with their own unique sights and sounds, packed with history and stories of times gone by. One of the "must see stops" is Mission Rocks situated halfway between Cape Vidal and St Lucia. Your guide couple will take you on a short walk to the rocks, a perfect photo opportunity.
After lunch you will depart on an included, guided Hippo & Croc Safari where you will have the opportunity to discover, witness and observe Hippo's, Nile Crocodiles, and hundreds of bird species.
On your final evening here you will meet for an included, guided Turtle Tour, where an exceptional experience awaits. These magnificent creatures of the ocean that return to their area of birth to lay their eggs can only be regarded as breath-taking.
You are picked up in open safari vehicles and embark on a journey along the beach towards Leven Point in search of Logger Head and Leather Back Turtles. The Turtles you may witness on these outings guarantees a majestic and spine-chilling experience. Watch as the females prepare their nests and then endeavour to lay their eggs. One will be amazed by not only the pristine beauty of Cape Vidal at night but also the incredible star gazing opportunities. Once at Leven Point you will enjoy a light dinner and refreshments and then continue back towards Cape Vidal.
