Distance: 256km (160miles)

Collect your motorhome and head east to the Atlantic, make a stop at the world famous Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Centre where if you want to, you can take a tour to see the launch areas, see the giant rockets, train in spaceflight simulators and if you’re lucky, meet a veteran astronaut.

No visit to Florida is complete without a visit to The Palm Beaches and Boca Raton, so follow the coast south to the stunning Juno Beach area and make sure you take time to visit the Loggerhead Marine Life Centre during sea turtle nesting season (May-August), where they can take you on a guided walk to watch the turtles up close.

Available Excursions:

Distance: 168km (105miles)

Continue south towards Palm Beach and on to Dania Beach. In Palm Beach you’ll feel like a celebrity as you amble through the Worth Avenue shopping district, dubbed the ‘Rodeo Drive of the East’ and make sure you allow some time to see some of the mansions including Henry Flagler’s, which is now one of the top sightseeing attractions of the area. Your final destination for today is the North Coast where the sands of Dania Beach are just a few minutes away.

Distance: 202km (126miles)

Today you’ll be heading south to Grassy Key where we suggest that you base yourself at the Grassy Key RV Park, if you would like a waterfront site then make sure you book well in advance. While you are in Grassy Key, we suggest a visit to the Dolphin Research Centre for a closer look at the dolphins and sea lions that they care for here.

Suggested Campsite: Grassy Key RV Park & Resort

Distance: 160km (100miles)

This morning you’ll start the journey north to the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park which was established in 1963 and was the first undersea park created in the United States. The park, combined with the adjacent Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, encompasses 178 nautical square miles of coral reefs, seagrass beds and mangrove swamps.

Distance: 120km (75miles)

Today you’ll be heading to the Everglades National Park where we recommend taking an airboat tour which is a great way to experience this unique subtropical ecosystem. Glide across the grassy water while looking for wildlife like alligators, fish, turtles and wading birds in their natural habitat.

We suggest staying at the Flamingo Campground but recommend that you pre-book it well in advance using the National Park Service website where you can also learn so much about this amazing environment.

Available Excursions:

Distance: 368km (230miles)

Continue through the Everglades National Park and the Big Cyprus National Reserve on your way to Sanibel where we suggest you stay at the Periwinkle Park & Campground which is a bird lovers paradise as you can see many species of exotic and native birds including toucans, macaws and lemurs.

Distance: 232km (145miles)

Return to the mainland and continue to Fort De Soto Country Park where it’s 1,136 acres are made up of five interconnected islands where many campsites are directly on the waters edge. There are two piers that you can fish from, you can rent boats and bikes or, as Fort De Soto has won the America’s Best Beach award, why not just stay on the beach and enjoy everything that it has to offer.
