Our Safari and Sea escorted tour is perfect for those who wish to optimize game viewing experiences. Starting in the northern section you will travel through the central area to the southern parts so covering the entire length of Kruger National Park. There is one uncontested truth about enjoying Kruger - the slower you drive, the more you'll see. Avoid the temptation to go fast when nothing much appears to be happening in the bush around you, as wildlife blends naturally into the environment and can easily be missed if you are speeding!

Another highlight of this tour is a three night hotel stay at Ponta do Ouro in Mozambique. Meaning ‘tip of gold’ in reference to the Cape at the southern end of the beach, Ponta do Ouro is best known for its stunning sandy beach, its dolphins and offshore diving.

Itinerary

Days 1 - 3: Johannesburg

Fly to Johannesburg where you’ll be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel in the Sandton area. The following afternoon there will be a demonstration of your vehicles followed by a Welcome Dinner that evening.

Days 4 - 5: Magoebaskloof

Distance: 393km (246miles)

Collect your motorhome and depart for Magoebaskloof known as ‘The Land of the Silver Mist’. The next morning head to Tzaneen and the Lesodi Hiking Trail, a trail that is abundant with birds and animals. The route begins at the Sanford Heights Tea Room and trails down through a superb secluded indigenous forest where you will be able to spot a vast variety of birds including the Cape Parrot, Loerie and the Narina Trogon. Along the way you will find some fantastic places to stop and admire the spectacular views and perhaps spot a group of Samango monkeys that have been known to inhabit the area.

From Tzaneen you will take a short drive to Wegraakbosch Organic Dairy Farm where a guided farm tour and cheese making experience is included. The owners began organic farming in 1986, after spending some time working on a dairy farm in the Swiss Alps. The couple developed a passion for organic cheesemaking, and that passion is still clearly visible at Wegraakbosch more than 30 years later.

Available Excursions:
Days 6 - 7: Northern Kruger National Park

Distance: 196km (123miles)

The first stop this morning is the Debengeni Waterfalls before continuing to the Northern section of the Kruger National Park. Our camp for the next two nights is situated in the Sandveld Region that is often described as the botanical garden of the Kruger National Park. There are numerous plant species which occur that are unique to the area. Game species most likely to be sighted include impala, zebra, buffalo, elephant, eland and sable; the area is a bird paradise.

You can explore the Kruger National Park in your own vehicle or alternatively guided game drives can be arranged in open safari vehicles at an additional cost.

Days 8 - 9: Phalaborwa Safari Park

Distance: 198km (124miles)

Today’s beautiful drive will take you through the Kruger National Park and drive down to the Phalaborwa Section of Kruger. The entire journey today is considered one long game drive as you will be able to spot wildlife in abundance, hopefully including Africa's famous Big Five.

The following morning you can enjoy an included morning safari in open vehicles where your knowledgeable guide will interpret the bush and give you a detailed explanation of the animal's behaviour. See the Big Five as well as a diverse array of other animals and birdlife from the Steenbok to the mighty African Elephant. Birders are spoilt as the Kruger is one of the best birding regions in South Africa.

You will return to your campsite late morning and can decide to enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure and enjoy the camps facilities or explore more of Kruger National Park at leisure in your own vehicle.

Days 10 - 11: Manyeleti Game Reserve

Distance: 154km (96miles)

Today's journey holds the promise of experiencing wildlife in abundance yet again from the comfort of your campervan as you drive through more of Kruger. The camp for the next two nights is situated in a rural area of pristine bush veld directly adjacent to the Manyeleti Game Reserve in the Greater Kruger National Park area. Manyeleti, meaning “the place of stars” is a prolific game viewing area, making it one of the best areas to visit for Big Five game viewing and exceptional scenery.

This morning is an included and guided bush walk (with a trained and armed guide). The Rangers will introduce you to tracking, animal behaviour, identification, plants, and trees. A walking safari is a unique and intimate experience where you can be close to the ground, in nature, following the paths of the Kudu, Lion or Zebra that may have walked in front of you just a few hours before.

Days 12 - 13: Southern Kruger National Park

Distance: 334km (209miles)

Continue through Kruger National Park to the campsite at Crocodile Bridge where you either relax at the campsite or further explore the park.

The game viewing area is known as the 'Southern Circle' and is renowned for its concentration of different prides of Lion with different hunting techniques and behaviour. It has an abundance of prides, herds, troops, packs, and swarms. It is also home to a large percentage of the Kruger National Park's total Rhino population.

Days 14 - 16: Ponta do Ouro

Distance: 225km (141miles)

The drive to the Mozambique border takes approximately 30 minutes and then continue to Ponta do Ouro in the south with its beautiful white beaches, dense dune forests, and an ever-stretching azure sea. Check in at Casa Ponta Lodge for a three night stay where you might want to try a very famous Mozambican drink called R&R - Raspberry & Rum served with lots of ice. This evening there is an included group dinner at one of the rustic restaurants.

After breakfast the following day, meet with your host couple for a walk to the diving and snorkelling centre for an included snorkelling trip. Mozambique is a snorkelling paradise and offers such a varied, rich, and unexplored coastline that it is simply a must on anyone’s bucket list.

The next day take a guided Village Tour where a local Ponta guide will give history on the village and surrounding areas and share tales and stories with you.

Days 17 - 19: iSimangaliso Wetland Park

Distance: 281km (176miles)

Return to South Africa and continue to Cape Vidal which lies within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park World Heritage Site. The campsite is set in a bay sheltered by a rock reef that is completely exposed at low spring tides, providing a multitude of rock pools and prime snorkelling areas. On either side lies kilometres of deserted, unspoilt beaches ideal for long walks, while inland there are self-guided drives around the fascinating wetlands and rich coastal forests.

Cape Vidal often referred to as heaven on earth truly offers the best combination of safari and sea. Situated on the exquisite Zululand coast with all its amazingly rich marine life, and it provides direct access to the Eastern Shores Nature Reserve with its populations of elephant, rhino, buffalo, crocodile, hippo and reedbuck to name but a few.

On the following day you can explore Cape Vidal and take a drive to St Lucia; this beautiful stretch is a mesmerising piece of pristine beauty. Along the way there are many different viewpoints each with their own unique sights and sounds, packed with history and stories of times gone by. One of the "must see stops" is Mission Rocks situated halfway between Cape Vidal and St Lucia. Your guide couple will take you on a short walk to the rocks, a perfect photo opportunity.

After lunch you will depart on an included, guided Hippo & Croc Safari where you will have the opportunity to discover, witness and observe Hippo's, Nile Crocodiles, and hundreds of bird species.

On your final evening here you will meet for an included, guided Turtle Tour, where an exceptional experience awaits. These magnificent creatures of the ocean that return to their area of birth to lay their eggs can only be regarded as breath-taking.

You are picked up in open safari vehicles and embark on a journey along the beach towards Leven Point in search of Logger Head and Leather Back Turtles. The Turtles you may witness on these outings guarantees a majestic and spine-chilling experience. Watch as the females prepare their nests and then endeavour to lay their eggs. One will be amazed by not only the pristine beauty of Cape Vidal at night but also the incredible star gazing opportunities. Once at Leven Point you will enjoy a light dinner and refreshments and then continue back towards Cape Vidal.

Days 20 - 21: Zululand

Distance: 284km (178miles)

Follow the Battlefields Route to the final campsite in Gooderson. Set in 550 hectares of beautiful KwaZulu Natal bushveld amongst giant Cambrian granite boulders that are millions of years old, the campsite has beautiful views over the Bivane River and abundant bird life.

Gooderson is the perfect setting to end your holiday where you can escape to a rejuvenating oasis for a 2-night stay. The resort is famous for its serene location and the natural healing properties of the hot pools: at a source temperature of 37°C, the pools discovered in 1880, provide a constant supply of beneficial waters for guests and are well known for their anti-oxidant properties.
