Travelling further into Croatia, arrive at Plitvice Lakes National Park for a 2-night stay. Granted World Heritage status in 1979, this area of exceptional natural beauty is known for its 16 terraced lakes interconnected with a series of waterfalls that extend into a limestone canyon. It is set in deep woodland populated by deer, bears, wolves, boars and rare bird species. It is located in a picturesque setting among the 100 islands that comprise the Kornati National Park. Day 11 is free to explore nearby surrounds or sunbathe on the local beaches.
